Intrepid offers a limited number of scholarships for the Young Actors Theatre Camps. To apply, please fill out the Camp Scholarship form 2014.

Young Actors Theatre Camp

Hours: 9:30am to 3pm
Ages: 8-14
Cost: $225/week

 

 

 

 

In a fun and creative environment, campers develop theatre skills, gain confidence and develop social skills through collaboration and performance.  Professional teaching artists lead classes focused on acting, singing, scene study, fight choreography, dance, improv, stage makeup, and mask work.  The week will culminate in a showcase performance for friends and family.  The campers will be divided into two age groups: 8-11 & 12-14.

This year’s Young Actors Theatre Camp will take place at the beautiful Encinitas Community Center. For more information about the location, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page.

*This session focuses on teaching comedy improv to kids with a sketch comedy performance on the final day.

Hours: 10am to 3pm
Ages: 13-18
June 30 – July 11
Cost: $450
Duration: Two Weeks

Campers will be cast in and rehearse a musical (Stephen Sondheim’s “Into The Woods”) that will be performed at the end of the two week session.  Throughout the rehearsal process, professional guest artists will be brought in to mentor and work with the campers on audition technique, acting a song, character movement, dance and more.  The professional guest artists hail from such organizations as La Jolla Playhouse, The Old Globe Theatre, Moonlight Stage Productions, and Lamb’s Players Theatre. This camp has a maximum enrollment of 20 to ensure that every camper has a singing/speaking role. Musical Theatre Camp will take place at the Performing Arts Center on the campus of San Dieguito Academy.

Rand-PosterShakespeare Camp

Hours: 10am to 3pm
Ages: 13-18
July 14 – July 25
Cost: $450
Duration: Two Weeks

Campers will be cast in and rehearse a Shakespeare play (“King Lear”) that will be performed at the end of the two week session.  Throughout the rehearsal process, professional guests artists will be brought in to mentor and work with the campers on fight choreography, advanced acting, voice and speech, character movement, audition technique, and more.  The professional guest artists hail from such organizations as The Old Globe Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, Kingsmen Shakespeare Company, Texas Shakespeare Festival, and Intrepid Shakespeare Company. This camp has a maximum enrollment of 20 to ensure that every camper has a speaking role. Shakespeare Camp will take place at the Performing Arts Center on the campus of San Dieguito Academy.

Comedy Improv Camp!

Hours: 12pm to 3pm
Ages: 13-18
August 11 – August 15
Cost: $225
Duration: One Week

Campers spend the week learning the art of funny from professional guest artist Casey Gardner of National Comedy Theatre. This is a fun, playful and exciting improv camp that includes a showcase for friends and family at the end of the week. Guaranteed to be both hilarious and confidence boosting, this is a great camp for kids of all levels of experience! Improv Camp will take place at the Performing Arts Center on the campus of San Dieguito Academy.
